With the Draw.io macro you leave the export ritual behind - edit, export a PNG, upload,
repeat next month. The .drawio file itself renders on the page, so
publishing an updated architecture means saving the file, not remembering which four
pages hold a picture of it.

A picture of a diagram starts lying immediately and gives no clue that it has. Point several pages at the same file and the architecture, the onboarding guide and the incident runbook all show the same thing - fix it once and it is fixed everywhere.

Architecture diagrams are wide and dense, which is exactly where an exported image gives up. Rendering the file draws the diagram at the size it is shown, with hardware-accelerated WebGL rendering wherever the browser supports it, and links inside the diagram keep working - so a box leads your reader to the service it stands for.
Nobody on your team changes tools to publish
Your team keeps using Draw.io the way it already does, and the page keeps up. Insert
it with the /drawio command in the editor, point it at an attachment or
a URL, and the diagram is on the page - no in-wiki redrawing, no format conversion,
no separate diagram tool for people to learn.
Your files stay yours, and readers can take them back into Draw.io
Keep diagrams wherever your team keeps them: a page attachment, a URL, Google Drive, or a credentialed S3, SFTP or database connection an admin set up once. Readers download the underlying XML and open it in Draw.io themselves, so publishing to Confluence never turns into a one-way trip.
